An Alternative Strategy for the Afghan War

Afghanistan will top the agenda at the 45th Munich Security Conference this weekend, with U.S. Vice President, Joe Biden, and U.S. Speical Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard, Holbrook, expected to make statements on the future of U.S. action in Afghanistan. After seven years of war, the international community has yet to create the conditions for a sustainable Afghan state that can survive a U.S. withdrawal.
