La chanteuse britannique, très jeune déjà, est douée pour le chant. Elle devient populaire dès 1977 avec son titre "It's a Heartache". Cette voix rocailleuse unique, elle la doit à une opération des cordes vocales après laquelle elle aurait reparlé trop tôt. Et c'est de là qu'elle fut surnommée la Rod Stewart féminine !
Bonnie Tyler embrasse vraiment une carrière internationale dès son titre "Total Eclipse of the Heart", repris de nombreuses fois par d'autres interprètes comme, entre autres, cette adaptation française "Si demain" (voir plus bas) qu'elle accepte de chanter en duo avec la chanteuse-danseuse-comédienne française Kareen Antonn et qui en 2004 reprend la tête des hits... D'autant plus une belle histoire quand c'est Bonnie Tyler qui la raconte: "Jusque là, j'avais toujours refusé de réenregistrer mes propres tubes car ce qu'on me proposait ne me plaisait pas. Là, quand j'ai reçu la version de Kareen Antonn de "Total Eclipse of the Heart", j'ai cru que mes oreilles allaient exploser. Je ne savais pas si Kareen était une star ou une inconnue en France, mais ce que je venais d'entendre était extraordinaire. Comme elle me demandait de chanter le titre avec elle, j'ai dit oui tout de suite. La seule chose qui me faisait peur, c'était de chanter en français, car je ne le parle pas du tout".
Tout récemment Bonnie Tyler représentait son pays au Concours Eurovision de la chanson. 2013 pour la diva, c'est aussi la sortie d'un nouvel opus intitulé "Rocks and Honey" dont le premier titre "All I ever Wanted" commence à s'entendre partout, et d'une tournée internationale qui a déjà démarrée puisque ce soir Bonnie Tyler chantera en Allemagne, le 15 juin en Italie, le 22 juin en Norvège etc...
