IATA announced today that FedEx Express President and CEO David Bronczek started a one-year term as the Chairman of the IATA Board of Governors. Bronczek succeeds Tony Tyler, CEO of Cathay Pacific Airways, who served as Chairman from June 2009
Giovanni Bisignani (Director General and CEO of IATA) announced a return to profitability for the global aviation industry. All regions are predicted to do well in 2010 except Europe, a region that was faced with volcanic ash and labour strikes.
Mr Bisignani and other aviation experts agree that a change is necessary in Europe to create one airspace in order to deal more effectively with exceptional circumstances such as volcanic ash. During the IATA AGM Iceland and the Netherlands received an award for the most improved air navigation service providers.
