At 5 o’clock in the evening, the side hall of the UNESCO Palace became completely filled with journalists, photographers, and people from the Arab-world media, as well as artists from different domains.

Welcome words preceded the revelation of a painting by Zaher El Bizri entitled “No to violence” accompanied by music of Rabih Salameh on the Arabic oud.
Art had a particular place during that evening for a live painting was conducted by Darine Semaan during the many words about the refutation of violence against women by the group members as well as by important figures of the attendees.

An award was then given for every person who has proved efficiently active in the field of promoting and asserting the need to stop the violence and gender discrimination against women in Lebanon and the Arab countries. Winners included the young actor Mazen Mouaddam, the talented painter Darine Semaan, and the CNN reporter Baria Ahmar who read an introduction of a poem she produced for the event and which was adopted, during the event, by the singer and musician Ziad Bourgi as one of his new songs to become.

The event was covered by many of the Lebanese as well as Arab media like Future TV and Al Jazeera TV, respectively.

Perhaps it’s about time to join forces and stop the violence against women especially when we have one of our group members, a lady who was previously beaten and humiliated by a man but was able to rebel and help us, males, create the group and start spreading the word. No to any kind of violence against women, said Tarek Abou Zeinab, founder of the event-organizing group, while closing the ceremony.
