The Enchanting World of Haute Couture. (c) Kyle Feleecie.
- Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Kyle Feleecie, an owner and designer for Feleecie.

- Can you tell us all about your history, do you remember the very first piece you create and the moment you decide “This is it, I’m gonna create my own Haute Couture brand Feleecie”?

My Mom (Jill Feleecie) has been a couture fashion designer for over 30 years. Her atelier was located in Beverly Hills, California. She designed unique garments for the elite, countless celebrities (Mariah Carey, Beyonce to name just a couple) and royalty from all over the world. I’ve always worked with and helped her in one way or another for as long as I can remember. After her divorce, we moved to India for about 5 years. During that time, we traveled the country, visited remote villages and immersed ourselves in their rich textile history, mastery and culture. Learned in depth about the difference in threads produced by particular silk worms, intricate weaving, natural fabric dye that does not harm the environment, as well as a multitude of masterful embroidery methods. After being so incredibly privileged to have learned and grow our craft. We decide it was time to take what we have learned and open our new atelier. To share that beauty with the world. So, we moved to New York.

- You are collaborating with your mom, what's your favorite part about it and being a fashion designer, what are your strengths and the biggest challenge for you both?

My Mother (Jill Feleecie) and I work together very well. She is my best friend and has taught me everything I know professionally. We both love what we do and are having a lot fun building a new brand together.

In terms of being a designer, challenges make you better. Which is exciting and I believe our biggest strength.

- What inspires you the most when you create?

Flow and movement. Like a clean beautiful river. Not allowing the design to have areas of stagnation.

- If your collection was a person, how would you describe it?

She would be a fun, lighthearted, romantic and whimsical person. A person that did all she could to bring happiness, beauty and love into this world.

- What are your favorite trends in fashion, both in the past and present?

I don’t pay attention to trends, past or present. I believe getting caught up in trends stifles creativity. We do what we feel is beautiful.

- How long did you work on your upcoming collection?

About 6 years, when we started out journey through India.

- What have inspired your vision (any art form or existing designer)?

The designer we respect the most is Christian Dior himself. You can see he loved the beauty of the feminine form.

Second most was John Galliano when he designed for the house of Dior. The flamboyant over the top nature of his dresses were exciting. The combination fabrics he used was incredible.

- Can you describe the steps of your creative process?

Trying not to think too hard. Removing our self from the design process and allow the design to create itself.

- Your favorite creation so far?

All our design have their own unique personalities. Its hard to pick one.
