Ujoh was established in 2009 by the designer Mitsuru Nishizaki who worked for Y's and Yohji Yamamoto as a pattern cutter for seven years. Ujoh has participated in Tokyo Collection since 2014S/S. Its creation with the point of view as a pattern cutter brings out logical design with exquisite balance in terms of using fabrics, such as essential tailoring and bold cutting. In September 2015 Nishizaki was selected as one of the new emerging international designers to take part into the Fashion Hub Market project by Italian Fashion Chamber and received the award DHL designers during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Tokyo. He also participated as a finalist to the Who is on Next? DUBAI 2015 competition, sponsored by Vogue ITALY. In 2016, he received a prize distinguishing young talent, then in 2016 offered his first European stage in Milan with the help of Giorgio Armani, who made his theater available to him. For September 2022, Mitsuru Nishizaki’s return to the Paris runway had a few surprises in store.
2) Minimalist silhouettes and innovative pattern-cutting

With a desire to expand his Ujoh brand’s vocabulary, he teamed with artists and artisans to take his aesthetic in new directions. His designs for the Ujoh brand were acclaimed in a show, full of energy, on a circle lane catwalk, showing off a preppy and sporty style. Layered fabrics, high-necked sweaters with side slits, front-to-back buttoned shirts, long deconstructed trench coats, the look is sober and relaxed, enhanced by black trainers with heavy soles. The sophisticated silhouettes of UJOH jackets, vests, trousers and bustiers are adorned with the brand's signature embroidery. The shirts are based on a minimalist design and the removable collars found on several outfits add femininity.
3) The Fashion Show

The metallic accents of Ujoh’s first jewelry pieces found their way onto the clothes, too, with a striking double-buttoned skirt or a cross between a wrap-top and harness, layered over Mishizaki’s sharply cut fluid tailoring. These were not leather, but foil-pressed silk crepe from Kyoto, adding texture. Nishizaki articulated these details around his layered silhouettes in neutral tones, using three-dimensional cutting techniques to create his asymmetrical shapes. Drawstring frills and cutouts could be used to adjust the form for women, while hanging strips of fabric and open curved seams added intrigue to tailored looks for men. Plays on semi-transparency added to the mystery and offered an appealing take on outerwear for spring.
